How Do You Know When It’s Time to Update Your Estate Planning Documents?

Here are some things you should consider about. Has your life situation changed? Have you married yet? Divorced? Have you had a child? Have you had a second or third child? Have anything changed since you completed the documents? The next question is, have individuals changed? Have you named the right persons as executors in your documents? What about a guardian? All of these options evolve over time. We commonly nominated our parents as executor and power of attorney when we were younger, but at some time, it should be a spouse, adult sibling, or a friend. Then, at a later date, you may consider naming your adult kid. The right people and choices shift.
